Although winter weddings are becoming ever more popular, for many of our international couples, the balmy Mediterranean weather is a big part of their decision to get married in Spain. We’re lucky enough to have great weather most of the year, but we’re now well and truly into the soaring summer temperatures. Fortunately, we have plenty of tricks up our sleeves for surviving the heat. Fans

A Spanish wedding classic, fans are the perfect guest giveaway, doubling as accessories and keepsakes. There are a huge variety of shapes, colours and designs to fit with any decor theme.

Lemonade or flavoured waters

As any Mediterranean local knows, avoiding dehydration is key, and it’s important to provide guests with plenty of non-alcoholic refreshments to alternate with their cava and cocktails. Fresh traditional lemonade, or water flavoured with fresh summer fruits, is high on our list of summer wedding essentials.

Parasols

Any item that is simultaneously practical and pretty is a hit in our book. Like fans, parasols double as decor and make for great photo props. Mix a few different designs so guests can match to their outfit.

Summer flats

Another classic summer wedding essential. If you want guests to dance the night away, these are a definitely a must! Flip flops are a popular choice, or for an original mediterranean touch you could go for locally made espadrilles – a favourite at Spanish weddings.

Practical provisions

Replace regular candles with the citronella variety, to keep mosquitoes at bay in the prettiest way. You can also stock your bathroom baskets with plenty of summer wedding essentials such as bug spray, sun cream, and refreshing facial mist.
