Emma’s family have a home in Barcelona, so the city already held a special place in the couple’s hearts. They wanted to give their guests an authentic Mediterranean experience, and the whole theme of the wedding, from the venue to the cuisine to the stunning decor concept, fell into place very smoothly from there.
We kicked off with a rehearsal dinner by the sea and the wedding itself took place in the Catalan countryside.
When working with a strong theme for a wedding, the trick is not to go overboard. To create the feel of an elegant Spanish wedding, we wove in Mediterranean blues throughout, and added some Bougainvillea plants as accents to the spaces. The bursts of colour in the ‘dancing flowers’ on the dinner tables, and the touches of a Mediterranean tile motif in the stationery completed the picture.
Some of the most magical moments of the day for us are when guests enter each area of the venue for the first time, and have a new experience for each part of the day. After the ceremony under the oak trees, and the aperitivo in the gardens, guests wandered up a candlelit walkway to the front courtyard of the house for dinner. The idea was for guests to feel like they were attending an opulent Mediterranean feast at an authentically Spanish wedding. No detail was overlooked, from the handmade peach coloured taper candles, to the delicious cuisine.
The evening was full of emotional moments, plenty of laughter and some spectacular surprises! All of the personal touches made the event totally unique. From the Cornell University flag flying on the house mast, to the mapping show which transformed the façade of the building into the couple’s story, which we managed to keep a total secret from the couple until the very last minute. Emma’s parents had contacted us a few weeks before the wedding to arrange the mapping show, and we could not have been more happy to help. The dancing and merriment continued into the small hours.
From the couple themselves, their parents and families, their bridesmaids and groomsmen, and the whole gang – everyone at this wedding was such a pleasure to work with and we are very proud to have been a part of this magical Spanish wedding.
Extra special thanks to María from One Day One Song, who was kind enough to create not one but two highlight videos. (There were simply too many highlights at this fabulous wedding!) Make sure you check them out:
